Fall Brunch November 13

Mark your calendars for a fall brunch on Sunday, November 13 at 11 a.m. in Arlington. You, your spouse (or significant other) are welcome. After a wonderful brunch we will be holding a fun Yankee swap. Did you ever receive a gift that you just didn't like? This is your time to recycle it -- bring it along for the Yankee swap! Get Together in Downtown Boston

On Wednesday October 26th at 6pm, please plan to get together with some sisters at Coogan's Bluff in Boston. This is a great opportunity to get to know more sisters who live and work in Boston. Coogan's Bluff is located at 1174 Milk Street. RSVP to bostonalphaxi@comcast.net.

Support Starlight Starbright on October 16

Please mark your calendar and come to the next Boston Alpha Xi Delta Philanthropy meeting on Sunday October 16th at 1pm. The meeting will be held at Jan H.'s house in Burlington MA. We are supporting Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation. This organization is an international non-profit organization dedicated to brightening the lives of seriously ill and hospitalized children and their families through innovative programs that empower, educate, entertain, and inspire. Our meeting on Sunday the 16th will focus on two things. First, we need your energy to help assemble 10 "parties in a box". These boxes will include games, toys, and art supplies. The Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation will supply all of the items, boxes and shipping labels/costs. The assembly usually takes one person about a half-hour. Second, each party box costs about $100. Our group would like to be able to donate at least $100 to Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation. Please consider supporting this by donating towards this goal. If you are able to attend on the 16th, you can bring your donation then. If you are unable to attend, contact Jan at bostonalphaxi@comcast.net.

Please consider coming to support a wonderful cause and spend a couple of hours socialzing with your sisters! Please RSVP to Jan or Kendra L. by Friday October 14th. If you are able to attend, we will also need your help to ship a party box. All of the shipping cost are covered, we just need help taking the boxes.

A Day in the Park

Alpha Xi Deltas and their families met at the DeCordova Museum sculpture park for an early fall picnic in September. It was a beautiful day to be outdoors and to enjoy the contemporary art.

Join your sisters for some great coffee and breakfast treats while we discuss this years events and plan our next year's events. Founders Day Luncheon

Books for Kids

Thanks to everyone who attended our February philanthropy meeting! We collected 55 children's books, which are being donated to the Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation of New England.

Feb. 12 Philanthropy Meeting

Support Read Across America! Bring new or gently used children's books for donations to a local family shelter on Saturday, February 12. We'll meet at 10:30 am at Panera Bread in Dedham at 797 Providence Hwy (RT 1) Dedham MA. Take the opportunity to take a break from your weekend routine and connect with your Alpha Xi sisters over a cup of coffee or tea and a pastry!

Dues for 2004-2005

Association dues for the 2004-2005 program year are due -- our Treasurer, Kendra L. is where to send them. Send me (Jan H.) an email if you need mailing address info. This year's rates are:

• $30 -- Regular Membership
• $25 -- Members age 65 or older
• $25 -- New Graduates (2004)
• Free -- Order of the Pearl or Diamond Members (initiated 60 or more years ago, i.e., 1944 or before)

Your dues payment supports publication of our membership directory (you'll get a copy), materials for Founders Day, contributions to the Alpha Xi Delta Foundation, and materials and assistance from Fraternity Headquarters.
